In 1865 Friedrich H Bertling, a Senator of the seaport town of Luebeck and a consul to the kingdom of Norway, established his own company with the aim to provide multi-modal transportation links throughout Scandinavia and the Baltic regions with access to the industrial centres of continental Europe.
FH Bertling’s vision, the formation of a complete and diverse transportation chain combins ship owning, chartering, freight forwarding by land and sea, as well as port warehouse management and operations, remains as a catalyst for growth and development, supported by generations of successive management. Today, the company is a broad based transportation group, offering a wide range of services. Bertling maintains some 40 offices in 25 countries with a staff of over 800 professionals.
