The name "Blue Star" relates to a long history in shipping.
Blue Star Line Ltd., which was founded in 1911, was one of the pioneers in British maritime history and was taken over by P&O Nedlloyd Ltd. in 1998.
On the 27th of February 2002 the registry of the newly founded Reederei Blue Star GmbH took place. The company provides ship management services and is now owned by the AP Möller Maersk Group.
