Reederei Erwin Strahlmann e.K. was founded in 1988 by Mr. Erwin Strahlmann. In the beginning hetook care of the commercial job for companies of well-known captains.Afterwards Mr. Erwin Strahlmann became unlimited partner and replacedthe resigning captains.

Today the company has around 40employees in the German offices and additionally around 30 employees inthe Branch Office in Szczecin, Poland. Together they take care forapproximately 60 vessels which carry between 1.700 and 7.800 tons. Tenvessels have time-charter contracts and are employed in worldwideservice. The remaining vessels are bulk carriers which are mostlytravelling between European ports. These vessels are operated by thechartering brokers Meerpahl & Meyer, Hamburg and Echoship APS,Svendborg in Denmark.

It was decided in 2003 to renewal thefleet and the first new building activity started. In the meantime morethan 20 new buildings joined the permanently increasing fleet. Until2010 at least 9 more new buildings will be delivered. The target onintermediate and long term is a durable fleet strength of up to 100vessels.

With the increasing number of vesselsthe requirements in daily business will also grow and therefore it isplanned to build up in spring 2008 a new, modern office building inBrunsbüttel close to the Kiel Canal where all the different departmentswill be together under one roof.

The Technical Department is managed bythe brother of the founder, Mr. Holger Strahlmann in cooperation withthe Chief Engineer Mr. Andrzej Subocz. The main activities of this teamare executed by the polish location, Reederei Erwin Strahlmann, BranchOffice Szczecin, where 80 electricians and technicians take care of allnecessary repair works that take place either in the port of Szczecinor during the vessel´s voyages in the corresponding load- ordischarging ports.

In September 2008 a cooperation withthe Maritime Academy, Szczecin will start to support 20 students peryear on scholarship for technical / nautical course of study and toprovide them the opportunity to carry out their practical education onboard of the Company vessels.

The continuation of the business intothe next generation is safeguarded by the two sons of the businessmarried couple Ute and Erwin Strahlmann. Christian (born 1987) and Mike(born 1990) have already started their education in shipping companiesin Germany and foreign countries. After 6 - 8 years they will return toReederei Erwin Strahlmann e.K. where they will be finally prepared fortheir upcoming tasks.
