With authorized qualification of import and export trade, Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co,. Ltd., who is one of the large key-shipyards under the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation ( CSIC ), is engaged in the businesses of shipbuilding,ship-repairing and conversion, building of and repairing on off-shore projects, building of large-size steel structures, designing and building of GRP boats and relative davits.

In accordance with the developing strategy of CSIC and the municipal developing program of Qingdao city, the company has moved to Haixiwan of Qingdao Economic and Technical Development Zone and began to build Haixiwan Shipbuilding & Ship-repairing Base. The Haixiwan Shipbuilding & Ship-repairing Base, which will be mainly constructed into four production sections including shipbuilding, ship-repairing, offshore projects & steel structure, and GRP boats & davits manufacture, will have more than 400 hectares of land, 9 km of coastline and nearly 6 km of wharf length. After completion of the construction project, there will be two large shipbuilding dry docks, three large ship-repairing dry docks, and relative equipments & facilities ( see the page of “Technical Capabilities and Facilities” ), and the annual production capability will be: 2,000,000 dwt of shipbuilding ( 4,680,000 dwt in future ), 200 million US Dollars of ship-repairing turnover, 4 sets of offshore platform, and 500 boats of lifeboat.

The constructions of ship-repairing section and the GRP boats & davits manufacture section were completed in 2004 and have been operated into production already. The construction of shipbuilding section was fully started in Nov. 2005 and will be completed and be operated into production in 2008.
