Shinko Ind, a Japanese manufacturer of tanker cargo pumps, is pushing ahead with development of ballast water treatment equipment.

The company has already developed ways to manage ballast water.

By offering them to Japanese ship operators and shipbuilders, Shinko intends to develop the most suitable system for ships.

Marine equipment makers are positively trying to develop new products in the midst of uncertain prospects for newbuildings. It seems that Shinko currently focuses on development of ballast water management system from the viewpoint of responding flexibly to future developments in the shipbuilding market.

Shinko's ballast water disposal system generates cavitation by having seawater pass through a slit, thereby disposing of microorganisms contained in seawater. The water left untreated is disposed of by using chemical solution called Para-Clean Ocean. The solution has no effect on seawater because it is a sort of hydrogen peroxide.
