DENMARK’S DS Norden plans to expand this year after selling 14 drybulk carriers last year. The dry bulker and product tanker company will sign a $200M credit facility in 2Q10 to expand the company further through vessel purchases and company acquisitions, CEO Carsten Mortensen said in a webcast.
Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co said it has won an order worth US $344.7 million to build five oil tankers for Angola’s state-owned oil company.
South Korean yard Samho Shipbuilding has an order from Greek customer Strand Management SA for two bulk carriers of 32,000 dwt. They are scheduled t0 be delivered in April 2011 and June 2011.
South Korean yard Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world’s largest shipyard, said it has signed a US$1.4 billion deal to build offshore gas facilities in Myanmar.
The United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) said it has agreed loans of US$275 million to finance construction of the final three 13,100 TEU container ships in a series on order from South Korean yard Samsung Heavy Industries.
