Maersk's "bizarre" IUU shipping decision

New Zealand-based fishing company Sanford has welcomed shipping line Maersk’s decision to stop shipping illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fish on its container shipping vessels worldwide, however it described the situation as “bizarre”, and questioned how Maersk would make such determinations.

“We will be looking with interest to see how Maersk intends to deal with this,” said Sanford Managing Director Eric Barratt.

“In the meantime, we look forward to increased returns for New Zealand seafood if Maersk is able to restrict international trade in illegal fish.”
