South Africa praises marine environment moves

Ocean study finds global warming hot spots

Oceanographers have identified a series of ocean hotspots around the world generated by strengthening wind systems that have driven oceanic currents, including the East Australian Current, polewards beyond their known boundaries.

The hotspots have formed alongside ocean currents that wash the east coast of the major continents and their warming proceeds

US Coast Guard joins anti-pollution initiative

The US Coast Guard (USCG) has signed an agreement with the North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) to co-develop and implement outreach, training and educational materials aimed at reducing maritime pollution.

Breakthrough in producing biofuel from algae

A team of scientists has developed breakthrough technology that helps to further enable the wide-scale use of seaweed (macroalgae) as a feedstock for advanced biofuels and renewable chemical production.
