SPP secures four bulkers
Korean shipbuilder SPP Plant & Shipbuilding has reportedly won a couple of post-panamax bulker orders from three Greek shipowners.
Modion Maritime has booked one 82,000-dwt bulker for delivery in mid-2011.
And Goldenport Shipmanagement is said to have signed a similar-type vessel for delivery in 2012.
In addition, Target Marine is reported to have placed an order for two 84,000-dwt bulkers, both for delivery in 2012.
All the newbuildings are said to be costing about $36m apiece.
Modion confirmed the company has ordered the vessel and said the reported price is "about" right.
An official from Goldenport declined to comment on the report, noting that as a public company any such activity would be disclosed.
Presently, the owner also has two 59,000-dwt bulkers on order at SPP Shipbuilding, a sister company of SPP Plant & Shipbuilding, for delivery in March and June 2011.
Meanwhile, Target Marine did not verify its reported orders.
